12 features that can boost the effectiveness of a business website

When a business leader heads to another company’s website to review its services, find information or just check out the competition, it can be wise to stick around for a while and review the content, design and “extras” for inspiration. It’s likely that what you find compelling, interesting or helpful on another business’s website would also be compelling, interesting or helpful to the current and potential customers who visit your website.

It’s also helpful to hear from fellow industry leaders to learn what details they find particularly effective when visiting another company’s website. Here, 12 members of Business Journals Leadership Trust discuss the features and content they love to see on a business website and why they find these details to be so impactful.

Video content

Studies show that consumers prefer to watch short videos rather than read text-based content online, including information on a company’s website. Treat prospects to a mix of both! Valuable digital assets can include videos that share your story, preview a product or provide a customer testimonial. A video montage on your home page provides an instant preview of your capabilities. – Lincoln Jacobe, 6 Pillars Marketing
