Located in central Oahu, Aiea Shopping Center has been the premier destination for easy, casual, and convenient shopping for over 60 years. Following the recent completion of center-wide updates, it was an honor to imagine, plan, and execute the center’s  ‘Refreshed & Rooted in Community Celebration’ and public relations campaign.

OVERVIEW

6 Pillars Marketing (6PM), in collaboration with Aiea Shopping Center’s management and ownership teams, produced a memorable experiential marketing and public relations campaign to spread awareness about the refreshed shopping center and drive incremental foot traffic.

Our team handled a wide variety of event management, public relations, and design tasks. For the ‘Refreshed & Rooted in Community Celebration,’ 6PM saw to the expert execution of event logistics, including securing a high-profile emcee and noteworthy guest speakers, coordination of the traditional Hawaiian blessing, event rentals (tenting and chairs), sound, and floral arrangements for the entire event space.  We also wrote and distributed a comprehensive news release and coordinated with major local news stations, such as Hawaii News Now and KHON2 News, to garner attention for Aiea Shopping Center’s grand reopening and rebranding. Jack Soren, the local artist who created one of the gorgeous new murals at the shopping center, was also interviewed as part of the PR campaign. In addition to broadcasting, 6 Pillars Marketing collaborated with tenants to host a giveaway,  offering donations and prizes to continue the excitement online. A wide-reaching social media campaign was also utilized, incorporating reels, infographics, and updated Instagram highlights to pre-promote the event, encouraging the community to attend the public blessing and celebration. 

TAKEAWAY

Over 100 people attended the grand reopening, including tenants and members of the general public alike. Overall, tenant feedback indicated that they were very excited about the event and grateful to our team for organizing and executing this celebratory event. Tenants also reported experiencing increased foot traffic after the event concluded, and their overall morale was very high.
