Fiji Tribute Concert

Public Relations

The Big Picture

On September 13, 2025, the A Hui Hou Tribute Concert celebrating the life of acclaimed reggae artist Fiji took place at the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell and Kapiʻolani Regional Park, drawing more than 28,000 attendees. To ensure that a concert of this scale ran smoothly and without issue, the Fiji Forever organizers required extensive logistical coordination along with strong public and media relations support. This included press-conference briefings, emergency communications, and day-of media relations, all of which our multidisciplinary team at 6 Pillars Marketing (6PM) delivered.

Public Relations Campaign

The 6PM public relations team collaborated with concert organizers to produce and distribute a comprehensive press release announcing concert details and online ticket sales. The release was carefully timed and sent to local media the day before ticket sales opened.

Following distribution, tickets were claimed within minutes, and the extraordinary surge in demand caused the ticketing website to crash, creating confusion among eager attendees. In response, the 6PM team acted quickly by distributing a second news release on behalf of the producers to confirm that all tickets had been claimed and outline actions being taken to expand capacity. Our team fielded media calls, mitigated potential negative press, and stabilized communications. Thanks to the team’s swift response, the situation was resolved and preparations continued uninterrupted.

In light of the rapid ticket sales and public safety concerns due to the large crowds expected, a comprehensive media strategy was developed. This included supporting a press conference with key agencies of the City and County of Honolulu, including the Office of the Mayor, City Parks Department, Honolulu Police Department, and Emergency Services Department, along with Fiji Forever organizers and 6PM public relations experts. Prior to the event, 6PM CEO Lincoln Jacobe provided media training to lead producer Tautua Reed, Mike Galmiche of TMR Events, and Hawaiian Council President and CEO Kūhiō Lewis.

Leading up to the concert, Tautua Reed, Mike Galmiche, and Kūhiō Lewis appeared on KHON2, Hawaii News Now, KITV, and other outlets to promote the event. All interviews were coordinated and facilitated by the 6PM’s public relations team.

On the day of the concert, our team escorted press to designated media areas, ensured unobstructed access for filming, assisted with interview requests, and informed media personnel about all individuals available for post-concert interviews.

Conclusion

Supporting this extraordinary concert honoring Fiji’s life and legacy was a significant undertaking, one our dedicated 6PM team approached with precision and care. With more than 28,000 attendees, the A Hui Hou Fiji Tribute Concert was a massive success made possible through strong planning, coordination, and communication. We are proud of the vital role our team played in delivering superior public and media relations services and ensuring the best possible community experience.
